Writing Poems

This week our class learned about sensory poems and acrostic poems.

We wrote a couple as a class:

The kids had a great time writing the acrostic poem about me. Several asked if they could write their own acrostic poem. (I love when they get that excited about what we are doing!) So the next day the kids wrote an acrostic poem using their names. Some kids even wrote a poem using their first and last names. We used dictionaries to help think of words. The kids also helped each other. This was a great community building activity. It was great to see what words the kids came up with to describe themselves and their classmates.
